There are many different types of scrapbook cutters on the market.  There are guillotines (trimmers), scissors, Stanley knife, die cut machines and punches just to name a few.  Let’s have a detailed look at some of these scrapbook cutters.

Guillotines and paper trimmers are one of my most used scrapbook cutters.  I have one and I use it to trim and crop my photos down to the size and shape I want for my pages.  I use it to cut paper and cardstock to the right size so I can use it were I want on my page.  It is so much easy, quicker and neater to use a guillotine than any other type of scrapbook cutter to do those mentioned things.

Another type of scrapbook cutter is the old trusty scissors.  I don’t use scissors very often unless they are decorative scissors.  I use decorative scissors to add decorative edges to paper and cardstock for borders around my photos and pages. The only things I use normal scissors for are cutting ribbon and cutting adhesive tape.

Another type of scrapbook cutter that is on the market is a punch.  You can get border punches, corner punches and shape punches.  These punches come in all different sizes and shapes.  The shapes can range from something as simple as a square or circle to something a bit more complex like a frog or kangaroo.  The sizes of the punches can range from tiny circles to massive leaves.  The big punches are sometimes called whale punches.

Occasionally in my scrapbooking pages and other craft projects I use a Stanley knife.  A Stanley knife is very useful if you need to cut out something that has fine detail.  Scissors quite often are too big to get into the little sections so a Stanley knife works wonders.

Another type of scrapbook cutter is die cut machines.  I personally don’t have one and have never used one but a lot of people have them and rave on about them.  The main reason I don’t have one is the cost.  There is a huge range of die cut machines and each of them has different features and points about them.  If you do want to go out and buy one of these scrapbook cutters make sure you do your research and get one that fulfills your needs.  To do your research you could look at some scrapbooking guides.

There are many different scrapbook cutters on the market.  Each type has a different use but all are useful and helpful in creating beautiful scrapbooking pages.
